Description of Aluminum Grease
Aluminum complex grease is a popular type of grease known for its excellent performance in various demanding environments.
The high load carrying capacity and extreme pressure resistance properties are the benefits of this grease and because of spray ability characteristics can be used in automatic spray systems. The temperature range is –10ºC to +140ºC.
Aluminum Complex is an advanced grease formulated using an aluminum complex soap as high-performance thickener for lubrication of open gears, rotary kilns, ball mills and dryers.
This grease includes base oils with properly selected viscosity, graphite with appropriate mesh size and special additives to provide outstanding extreme pressure and excellent anti-wear properties. Aluminum Complex is very adhesive to the metal surfaces and has excellent water resistance as well.
It is a combination of lubricating oil, aluminum-based soap and various additives. The aluminum soap acts as a thickener, helping the lubricant to stay in place and form a protective film on the surfaces it lubricates.
Aluminum complex grease is widely used in food and beverage processing plants, a food-grade grease made with food-grade white mineral oil or synthetic hydrocarbon. Aluminum complex greases are applicable in steel mills and mining applications because of their superior water resistance properties and higher temperature thickener.
Properties of Aluminum Grease
High-Temperature Resistance
Aluminum complex grease excels at withstanding high operating temperatures. This makes it ideal for applications where heat generation is a concern, such as industrial ovens, steel mills, and high-performance automotive components like wheel bearings.
Water Washout Resistance
The grease offers superior resistance to water washout, making it suitable for use in wet environments or machinery exposed to water, like construction equipment, marine applications, and food processing plants using water for cleaning.
Extreme Pressure (EP) Properties
Many aluminum complex greases contain additives that enhance their ability to withstand extreme pressure and heavy loads. This makes them suitable for applications with high shock loads or bearing high weight, such as gearboxes and heavy machinery.
Shear Stability
Aluminum complex grease maintains its consistency well under shearing forces, meaning it doesn’t break down easily due to friction. This ensures long-lasting lubrication performance.
Corrosion Protection
The grease can help prevent corrosion on metal surfaces due to its inherent properties and sometimes added corrosion inhibitors.
