Bitumen Penetration Grade 85/100 is a standard penetration grade Bitumen usually used as a Paving Grade Bitumen suitable for road construction and for the production of asphalt pavements with superior properties. This grade of Bitumen is mainly used in the manufacture of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses. Penetration Grade Bitumen supplied by RAHA GROUP is petroleum grade bitumen, manufactured from fractional / vacuum distillation of crude oil. The Bitumen supplied by RAHA GROUP is produced from vacuum residue (short residue) feedstock. Penetration Grade bitumens are specified by the penetration and softening point test. The designation is by penetration range only. The penetration grade bitumens have a thermoplastic property which causes the material to soften at high temperatures and to harden at lower temperatures. This unique temperature/viscosity relationship is important when determining the performance parameters such as the adhesion, rheology, durability and application temperatures of bitumen.

Properties of Bitumen 85/100

Penetration grade bitumen supplied by RAHA GROUP is pure petroleum grade bitumen, manufactured from vacuum bottom by passing hot air. The bitumen supplied by RAHA GROUP is produced from remain of crude oil after cracking and removing hydrocarbon. Penetration grade bitumen 85/100 has penetration between 85~100 desi-millimeter and the softening point between 41~ 49 C. The penetration grade bitumen 85/100 has a thermoplastic property which is like as synthetic resin material which gets softer with heating and hardens when cooled. This grade of bitumen 85/100 has very strong viscosity compare to other grades.

Uses of Bitumen 85/100

The main common usage of this product is in road making in cold regions. Bitumen 85/100 is suitable for road construction and for the asphalt pavements with superior properties. This type of bitumen used in the manufacture of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses and the main usage of this product is used in the spaying and chip application. The bitumen is provided during the presses of oxidation of vacuum bottom in bitumen production units. Due to its relatively low air blowing and penetration, It is used in areas with cold weather for asphalting and insulation. It is not cracked in low temperatures.
